Most of my thoughts are so scattered, it makes it easier to post a blog instead of a post on a board that is about 10 different subjects.

So, I'll take the time to respond to some of the AOW experts that emerged to respond to Pete Pistone's blog about Danica Patrick. I chose to do it here because this is a relatively safe haven...these are my opinions, and I am allowed more space to elaborate on those opinions than on the general boards.

So where to begin:

And you're saying you would rather see a male take her spot who drives as well as she does? Any male who has more talent then Danica will probably be picked up by racing team. This has been a popular theme, with slight variations. The writers seem to believe that there aren't any drivers who could do a better job than Danica, who are without a ride. I'll give two names to start with: Paul Tracy and Justin Wilson.

To Pete's Danica "experts", and some bits....

Let's talk racing for a bit: not the semi-scripted, rules changing on a whim (actually can a rule change if what the rule is has never really been established?), shadow of its former self league that dominates this site..NA$CARE...but the others...

Well, it looks like the off-season drama at STR might finally be over. The teams website is showing Buemi and Bourdais as its drivers heading into next season. Good news for SeaBass...and the right news. He really didn't deserve to be put through basically another tryout in the off-season. Plus with some of the F1 rule changes that will be applied this season, the vehicles will probably handle very similar to the old ChampCars. Of course this isn't the best of news for the devil himself, Tony George. SeaBass in the ICS would have been an amazing addition (Rumors had Bourdais joining NHL). With the uncertain future of Helio Castronieves, ICS could have used the additional star power.

I was thinking that if I start to actually write thoughts here more often, isn't it really just a semi-public diary? I've come to accept that I'm never going to be one of the members here at CBS that everyone waits to hear their opinions...I am a fringe poster. When all of the "cool" kids start contests about members, I am not at the top of anyones list. That is okay though, because it would also seem that I than have a freedom to say just about anything, because it will soon be forgotten.

Think about it....I realize now that I don't really need to keep changing my avatar every week. I'm not really part of that deal.

Favorite posters, "elected officials", etc....not my problem. Heck, I'm in fantasy leagues and people aren't even aware of who I am.

I've held off on posting for awhile, just needed a break. I did some traveling...visited some racetracks. But, I've had a few thoughts:

+ I get some trade magazines in the mail from old business ties; once you are on these mailing lists, you ARE ON these lists. One of these is a mag called "Mass Market Retailer"..(from the Menards days). I usually do my part for the tree-huggers out there and immediately put this in my recycling bin. For some odd reason, I set a recent issue on my workbench. Well, I was out in the garage having a cigarette, drinking a MGD, watching a 'lil football, and during a commercial I pick up said magazine. Inside they had some polls about different products and their usage...buying behavior it was labeled. I learned that only 85% of households purchase soap and toothpaste! SAY WHAT! But then I noticed at SceneDaily.com that 15% of people polled picked Dale Jr. to win the Chase and it all made sense.

Okay, I had to take a week or so away from here so I didn't get a chance to make a timely comment....but here I go anyways.

On the IRL/ ChampCar "merger":

I read many of the posts, well all of them actually, in Art's thread, and it amazes me how clueless some people can be. I accept the posters that I know are NA$CARE fans, and that is their interest...but the people who spout off on this subject, whether here at CBS, or on different sites as if they are suddenly experts because they have read 2-3 articles in the past week, or maybe watched bits and pieces of a couple IRL races truly frustrate me. Guess what kids.....you don't get it! Let's look at the merger comparing positives-negatives....

Positives

Okay I had to have another round of chemo this week, and a few stories accumulated while I recovered...this was one of the ones that has caught my eye, and I just need to comment:

Smoky bar triggered deadly asthma attack Fri Feb 8, 2008 6:11pm EST

By Julie Steenhuysen

CHICAGO (Reuters) - A woman in her late teens died from an acute asthma attack triggered by secondhand cigarette smoke shortly after arriving at her job as a waitress in a bar in Michigan, researchers reported on Friday.

I will try to set up this blog at first with an article on the subject:

BARCELONA, Spain -- Lewis Hamilton endured racist taunts from spectators at Formula One testing, Spanish media reported Sunday.

The 23-year-old from Britain, F1's first black driver, was jeered and insulted when he moved between the McLaren motorhome and the team's garage at the Montmelo circuit on Saturday.

Circuit director Ramon Pradera instructed staff to erect barriers around the team's paddock for Hamilton's safety, the reports said. Banners making references to Hamilton and team boss Ron Dennis were removed while the stands directly above McLaren's garage were cleared to ensure no debris could be thrown down when the car returned to the pit lane.
